Recipes

This page is for easy recipes from friends and family that we have enjoyed at various get-togethers over the years. Some have inspired scenes in my books. I will add to the collection as I get them. If you make any of these, get in touch with me and let me know how it turns out.

The Perfect Meringue

This recipe was submitted by Janie Campbell. Janie and I met online through my books and became fast friends. Janie has tested this recipe several times and says the meringue always turns out well. I don't know anyone that likes a slimy meringue, so this is a great find.

Willie's Famous Chocolate Pie

This is my oldest daughter's favorite pie. I make it every Christmas and Thanksgiving. You have to stir it constantly to keep it from sticking, but the end results are worth it. I bet mine is as good as the one Willie sells at the Burger Barn in Skeeterville.

Katy's Sweet Potato Crunch

I double this recipe and make it every Thanksgiving. It's Drummer Boy's favorite. In the Katy Cross book, Mistaken Murder and Small Town Status, Katy's daughter Eudie made this to bring to the Cross family reunion. She asked Katy to take it out of the oven and Katy forgot, getting the crunch on top a little too brown.

Mrs. Albertson's Banana Pudding

My neighbor Del brings this banana pudding to every church function and always leaves with an empty bowl. I used the banana pudding for a special scene in People Smarts and Wounded Hearts.
